HISTORICAL BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION

Contents

The collection encompasses documents on historical architecture and construction techniques of the past, covering a range of genres and media. Exhibits include fragments and structural elements, examples of architectural sculpture and decorative features and furnishings that are inseparable from the building itself.

Main collection areas

One major focus of the collection is ceramic building components, such as bricks, roof and floor tiles, and a comprehensive range of Kachelöfen (tiled stoves) and stove tiles. A further highlight is the rich collection of keys and locks from the Middle Ages and early modern era.
