HISTORY OF CRAFTS
Holdings
Since the 1860s, the Museum has collected tools and objects relating to crafts guilds. The approximately 4,000 objects showcase the diversity of urban craft in German-speaking countries, with Nuremberg as natural focus.
Key collecting areas
Early tools and historical workshop equipment show how craftspeople worked before the advent of industrial production. Objects associated with livery companies and guilds, including stunning sixteenth-century masterpieces and guild chests, give an insight into their lives beyond the workshop.
