Judaica

Contents

The core of this collection comprises just 150 objects. At present, only some of them are on display, scattered among various areas of the permanent exhibition. A part of the Judaica collection was initiated by Jewish citizens of Nuremberg in the years 1912–1913 and thus serves as a reference to how they perceived themselves and their place in society.

Main collection areas

Most of the items in the collection once belonged to the repertoire of sacred objects in the synagogue or were used in the private celebration of the Sabbath, as well as the various annual feasts and Jewish rituals that mark different stages of life.
