Toys

Contents

Toys have been part of the museum's acquisition programme since the 1870s. The collection is devised to reflect cultural history as evidenced by internationally well-known objects such as the Nuremberg dollhouses. Social games for adults and children continue to be a focus of the collection right up to the present day.

Main collection areas

The heart of the collection is the Nuremberg dollhouses, which were complemented by the acquisition of other houses for dolls and toy shops at the beginning of the twentieth century. The full spectrum of the collection includes dolls, tin figures, games and finely crafted board games, as well as paper theatres.
